Today in art class, we made collaborative paintings. This experience was so much fun, and I was able to choose what colors I liked and the pattern to follow. To make our patterns, we used tape and stuck it onto our canvases so it would leave a blank spot after painting around it.
Piece Name: Regality

Artist’s Statement
For this piece, I knew I wanted rich, royal-feeling colors, and I tried to encompass that in my design. The process was a lot of fun, and a lot of changing my mind about what color should go where. This painting has a mix of different shapes and lines, which gives it a uniqueness, as everyone in my class approached the project differently. The best part of this assignment is that it’s collaborative! Being able to work as a team and learn communication through something as fun as this is definitely a great way to teach kids about collaboration. The only thing that didn’t go exactly to plan for my painting was the paint getting under the tape in some spots, but that makes it more unique. This is a project that I would definitely take into my future class.
