This week’s art class was surprisingly difficult for me. We were asked to find three photos that correlate and almost tell a story about you. Some people are choosing three pictures of their pets, their families, or sports, but I was torn about which photos I wanted to choose. I spent some time scrolling through my camera roll, and realized that from now, all the way back until I got my first ever phone, there is one thing I have always taken pictures of.

Artist Statement

This series of photos explores the sky as it constantly shifts throughout our daily lives. Across a single day it can change from a cool blue color to a series of warm tones and the dark, mysterious colors of night. The three photographs capture moments from three different times of day, showing how the sky is everchanging.

The sky is important to me because when I am blessed with seeing the Northern Lights, it feels like my friend is watching from the sky. The day she passed was the first time I saw them, and they were brighter than I ever expected. I also relate to the sky because I am always changing too. As the sky changes colors and moods during the day, people grow and change too. Some days feel bright and clear, while others feel cloudy and dull.

This series of photos is extremely meaningful to me, and not only reflects the beauty of nature, but also memory, and growth.
